During the Disaster Response Fund and Grants pilot (2019-2022), contributions were treated similar to gifts to areas of focus. This generated some confusion since the Disaster Response Fund, unlike the areas of focus, is not part of the Annual Fund. Now that Disaster Response has been formally adopted, changes are being implemented to better differentiate the Disaster Response Fund from the Annual Fund.

Effective 1 July 2023, credit for gifts to the Disaster Response Fund will change as summarized below:

Disaster Response Fund contributions:

DO

  • generate Foundation Recognition Points, and count towards donors' total cumulative giving
  • help donors work toward Paul Harris Fellow, Paul Harris Society, Major Donor and Arch Klumph Society recognition
  • help clubs achieve the 100% Foundation Giving banner

DON'T DO

  • count toward a club's Annual Giving goal
  • count for Annual Fund per capita giving calculations
  • generate DDF
  • count for donors' attainment of Every Rotarian, Every Year or Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member status annually

District and club leaders who review Foundation contribution reports may notice that, effective 1 July 2023, contributions to Disaster Response appear as "other" in reports such as the Monthly Contribution Report and the Contribution Detail Report. The newest iteration of the Foundation Resource Guide (219) will reflect these updates.
